About the Piece: This piece was a Christmas gift to my brother, Steve. His family's house was set in a beautiful pine forest, beside a lush pond that was rimmed with irises. When Hurricane Katrina came through the area, the forest, the pond and the home were heavily damaged by 3 tornadoes. Below are "after Katrina" pictures of the pond. I hoped to capture in the quilt the lush depth and beauty that had once been the pond behind their house.

Dimensions: 39.5" wide x 30.5" high

Technique: Hand cut fabric pieces. Machine stitched and machine quilted.

Materials used: Primarily composed of cotton fabric though other natural fibers, synthetics and blend fabrics were also used.
